Bleah.
I'm secretly a little depressed. Not being really close to either group despite all that time, money, and effort - all spent in good faith without any credit-grabbing; myself and especially those extra-hard workers doing all that shit and not getting recognised at all and not enjoying the fun or pats on the back or feeling any post-event euphoria afterwards; having to pretend that all is good because it's either me handling this on my own or it's people patronising me and making me feel like a kid, which i largely detest.

Meanwhile, a particular person keeps reminding me of all of the above without realising it, there's still lots of event-related work to do for myself and for one of those extra-hard workers, and the school term gets ever closer...it just feels like i've been wasting lots of time, and i'm now staring into the distance at all those missed opportunities, wondering what would happen if things had been a little different. I feel kinda like a father who spends lots of time and money completely in the background, but the kids are all much closer to the mother who spends time with the kids, nurturing them. So i suppose i'll have to get used to this kind of feeling, if i ever want to be a good future dad. I'm starting to understand why my mum has been reminding us repeatedly how hard my dad works, and why my dad occasionally complains about his work in a way that makes it sound like he's working very hard (and maybe he is); otherwise, it would seem as if his sacrifice for us never existed.

My matric-week band performance was the highlight of my holidays, though. My singing was just so-so on that day, but the reviews were very encouraging. It's weird how having jamming sessions once a week for a few months can improve my morale and my spirit so much. Really have to thank those guys who gave me the chance to prove myself.

Although...well...if i'm a little cynical, i'd say that i'm not in the position to derive any tangible benefit from that performance, anyway.

Bleah.

Law Rag 09 is over.
Phew, Rag 2009's finally over!

Before i continue, i'd like to thank everyone for the help and hard work they've given to Rag 09! "Everyone" includes: the float team (joyce cheryl josiah changxian erik natalie shenxiong cj), the costumes team (alaris carene weilin sarah mie clarissa valerie ian and all related members), the dance heads (coco wanchee sien cara weihan), the stunt heads(yeehow JY david), my treasurers (mie charmaine) and secretary/vice chair (terence sZeToH...who also helped out in multiple teams), the money sources (frank alvin ben hanqun [and hanqun's dad]), the ogls (who helped to pull in freshies to join rag), NUSSU (in particular kenny yauluong and lizhen) the freshmen who were in dance and float (and who were, as usual, the biggest stars of the whole event), and those who helped out in a multitude of ways (bing, haojin zhiwen zuzhao timotheus razali ms goh [the vice dean] mingkai [and mingkai's father] zee eugene ian kayhian dot navin alcina terence shaorong the dance seniors and my own mother).

Rag 09 was a success, because although we did not win an award, it was agreed unanimously that the dance element (in particular the dance and stunts choreography and the neatness of the freshies) and the costumes designs were a great improvement over last year! And our float was finally a REAL float, with "no lorry in sight"! And the official Rag 09 spending was over $1000 less than last year! So thank you everyone! :):):) (i probably have to send out an actual email to everyone though...since no one actually reads this blog nowadays. and organise a thank-you party of course. hmm.)

Well anyway, that's the end of all that communication with NUSSU, Law IV and the school authorities about submissions, venue bookings, etc. Phew!

BUT i still have to submit a super long report to FOCC *gaaah*. And i've also got to settle the return of the float lorry and training mats.

Ahwell but i'm going to leave that to later. Just went for 60hrs without sleep because of Rag (lol i ended up sleeping for 13 hours when i got home...totally missed law bash though...haiz). And i survived for two days on a few biscuits, two cans of coke, two cans of coffee, one can of red bull, a few cups of 100 plus, H-Two-O, soya bean milk, and lots of water. Ate a small bowl of oats when i got back home (before sleeping), but NOW i'm very hungry. And probably thinner and sunburnt all over the place. So it's time to relax (before starting on my law readings...heard there's some stuff to read before school starts on tuesday...:|)! I'm going to hand in my FOCC submission late. Mark my words! XD
