I'm too tired to even think of a title.
Zzzzzz....i'm really sleepy right now. In fact, i think i'm in danger of falling asleep at work. Great danger. I slept at 1.30am last night, which was already not too good. But i could've gotten the 6 hours i needed if my dad hadn't gotten himself "disoriented" somehow and went to wake me up at 7.05am. 5+hrs may seem like a lot to some people, but to a guy who had gotten used to the "good life" after 5 months of 7-8 hours a day, it's not so great. It's only happened once before, so fair enough for him, but next time, just let me wake to my alarm clock lah hahazzz...@_@

Yes, i have an alarm clock, you know. It's set to 7.30am every night before i go to sleep. And it actually works. If i was asleep, i'd wake up instantly at the sound of it ringing. And most of the time, i'm actually awake even before my alarm clock even rings, thanks to that handy biological clock of mine. Definitely before my dad goes to "wake me up" too. Most of the time, i'd wake up naturally, 5 minutes before 7.30am, and my dad would come in to wake me about 2 minutes later. Which i think is a waste of effort on his part. Hahazzz...@_@

And really, there shouldn't be any worry about me being late to leave the house. Because i'll take a longer amount of time to get ready if i wake up earlier anyway lol. Partly because i'd be sleepy like hell, and partly because of that rather false sense of security that a bit more time gives. The only time i was ever late for work was when i overslept because my dad had woken me up EARLY just to tell me that he and my sister were going to leave for work earlier and i didn't have to go along. Ahahazzz...@_@

I suppose there's no need to mention that i tend to arrive 30 minutes early for work every day. Perhaps i should try taking the MRT to work for my last week because i'm quite sure now, after thinking about it more, that i'd be able to leave the house later that way. Ahh whatever. In any case, i'm not angry at my dad because that's just the way he is. I can't possibly tell him to buzz off on my blog, can i...that would just be so emo hahahazzz...@_@

Well, anyway, i just want to say that i went to the Law faculty's Welcome Tea session last saturday at 4.30pm (drove there myself too lolzzz...@_@) and man, i hardly recognised a single soul! I knew a couple of the male seniors (although they didn't really know me...not that there's anything wrong with that...) but my female JC juniors (who're now my university seniors) were all not involved in the orientation program. At least not directly. Not that there were many of them to begin with.

Within my own university batch, i obviously didn't know any of the girls because they were two years younger. And there weren't many guys in my batch who were from VJC as well. Quite a few from RI but they were mostly the people that i had not interacted with in secondary school. I'm thinking that quite a few of the people doing law with me this year will be from RJC. Bummer!

Okay, i've gotta go now; just received another assignment from one of my many bosses at this firm. Damn, i wish i wasn't so sleepy...@_@ As usual when i'm really konked out, i'm very sorry for any grammatical/typo errors of any sort!

Do I look that young to you?
Like omg lol. Yesterday, we were having dinner at this seafood restaurant when my dad decided to order a jug of beer to share between him, my uncle and myself. And then, when this waitress aunty came over to serve the beer to us, she didn't want to pour beer for me because she didn't think i was above 18 years of age!! 0.0

I didn't bring any identification with me into the restaurant, so my mother had to clarify with her; something along the lines of how she wouldn't have allowed me to drink beer in front of her unless i was older than 18 years. The waitress understood - sort of - but then later on, the manager of the restaurant came over to our table to question us again because he, too, thought that i was a minor!!

Like what the hell. I'm not sure how he "spotted" me; whether on his own or if the waitress went to "tell on me" for trying to get away with drinking below the age limit.

But the whole point is, i'm freaking TWENTY YEARS OLD now! Like i'm turning 21 this year; soon, i'll be able to watch R(A) movies!! XD

And i'm still being mistaken for a minor. It's happened plenty of times before; like some time early this year, while at manga class, this 15 year old girl made a guess that i was 18-19, and another guy at the class who was having his NS (he was 19/20) guessed that i was 17 years old. Woots. People at the firm continue to be surprised when they find out that i'm not some boy fresh from JC and waiting to go to NS; i've been getting questions from everyone as to whether i'd gotten a place in the university yet and when i was going to enlist into the army.

Well, i suppose it's great that i look young for my age. Heck, it's awesome. Perhaps, in the future i could be one of those 30 year olds with 20 year old girlfriends and nobody could tell there was an age difference to begin with ahahaha. Still, i think i better bring my IC with me every time i go out from now onwards lol.

Then again, to be serious, that's the sad thing about identification cards. Sigh. Perhaps, long, long ago, people who looked younger could have longer careers or something because they could pass themselves off as a younger guy, but with my IC and IC number, i'm not going to be able to enjoy those advantages today.

Oh anyway i baked a standard bread loaf today which went really well. The crust was crispier than ever - with totally no burnt parts unlike in the past - and the insides were fluffier than ever before. Lol it really does keep getting better and better each time. The only drawback was that the bread lacked taste. I actually used more butter and sugar than usual, so i was a little perturbed. But that was only until i tried the bread with a little butter, when i realised why my bread had lacked the usual taste: that "butter" wasn't butter at all!!!

I had put that same butter into my dough, and when i tried tasting it, it was more like margarine. Wtf. I believe that this butter was the NTUC brand butter bought from - where else - NTUC. My goodness. My respect for their products has dropped quite a bit because of this. Like who're they trying to kid sia. Maybe it IS butter, but it is so bland that it should never be used in breads and especially pastries unless the baker compensates for it somehow. Plus i think the "butter" is very lightly salted too (almost unsalted), so extra salt would have to be added, since most recipes actually assume that your butter is salted normally.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: Okay, turns out the "butter" wasn't from NTUC, after my mother went and got her memory refreshed or something like that. X) The "butter" was placed in our own plastic container, so i couldn't find out it's TRUE IDENTITY till later on! It's actually a brand called Buttercup, and the contents of the "butter" - as seen from the ingredients list written in tiny letters on the packaging - is, of course, vegetable fat with milk solids, etc...meaning that it's freaking MARGARINE like wtf. But the margarine is coloured to look quite like butter and feels a lot like butter too (when you try spreading it on bread), and it's packaged really well, in this shiny gold wrapping; the same way that lots of butters are packaged. Furthermore, the packaging reads "Buttercup: Luxury Spread", so it's not like you can sue them for faking anything; after all, they never did say that it was actually butter, did they? 0.o Of course, my mother didn't notice all of this when she did her grocery shopping; all she saw was the fact that this Buttercup cost $2+ each while the other butter slabs cost $4+ each, so she jumped at such a wonderful bargain! "Wah, so cheap, must buy!!!"...and she went and bought 2 slabs. LOL.)

Haiz...to think i actually reduced the salt i used for my dough from 1 teaspoon as recommended by the recipe to just a quarter of it, because i had expected the butter to have some salt in it (and because my mother has got some extreme aversion to salt lol). Ahwell. Lesson learnt. Next time, i should taste the butter i'm using before i add it into my dough. Just in case. Heck, i'll just taste my milk, sugar and salt too, to make sure they're the normal varieties. And the yeast and flour too, of course.

Just kidding about that last bit.

Suckers have won the title and i won at mahjong suckers!
Sigh, it's a monday again. *Sighsighsigh*...I really detest mondays. Not exactly because of the whole new week of work that seems to stretch endlessly before me, but because i usually don't get a good night's sleep the day before. Urgh. Either i'd go to bed late, or i'd do it on time but would toss and turn in bed and end up sleeping late anyway. And, the worst thing is, i'd wake up EARLY, regardless. Like today, when i slept at 1.30am and still woke up at 6.30am, a whole hour before my alarm clock was scheduled to ring. *Sigh*...

Anyway, Manchester United has won the title. Damn. That sucked big time. I would rather Arsenal or Liverpool win. Or Chelsea, of course. Those Man U fans are gonna have a field day boasting about their EPL win, as if they haven't boasted enough already. Ahwell...Man U's a pretty popular club these days...popular with teenagers and children, popular with women, popular with other club coaches and even popular with referees.

Like Steve Bennett, for example. Well, i'm not saying that he had consciously leaned in favour of Man U when he gave that penalty yesterday or the ones before that or when he sent Javier Mascherano off when Liverpool played against them.

...I'm just saying that he did it UNconsciously. Okay lol whatever.

Oh but i'm not as forlorn and worn out as i sound...my mood's actually pretty damn decent at the moment. Because...i won at mahjong yesterday!! Ghahahaha!! >:D

Woots i haven't played for awhile, but just imagine: we were playing 20-40cents for 1 tai and i was losing around $10 by the end of nan(2) feng(1) i.e. the second round. We decided to stop playing and continue the next 2 rounds the next day, and when we were on xi(1) feng(1) i.e. the third round i somehow managed to lose a large number of times till i nearly reached a $20 loss. which's really BIG, if you consider the odds we were playing. In fact, i was like the sole loser at that point, i believe.

But then when it was at the last game of xi(1) feng(1) where i was the dealer, i suddenly embarked on this winning run that started small but later grew significantly - 2 tai, 2 tai, 3 tai, 4 tai and 3 tai, with a couple of wins drawn on my own - and then during the bei(3) feng(1) i.e. the last round, i won 4 tai twice with one drawn on my own. And suddenly, i became the sole winner of the whole game with a freakin $16 profit like what the hell.

So now i've got some spare change! Ghahaha reminds me of the days in army last year when i didn't withdraw cash from my bank account for a few months because my pocket money was supplemented COMPLETELY by mahjong earnings. Lol not that $16 can even support a single week of expenditure at my workplace. And i'm not saying that you should be trying it yourself, of course...

...I mean, you'd need to have some kind of godly TALENT at mahjong to pull that off, you know...LOL ok sorry people i was just kidding hahaha! >:D

The two interns, ANGEL and JANE, LOOK HERE!
Okay. I decided to reply with a normal blog post. And no, the tagboard isn't spoiled at the moment. Though if it was i wouldn't be a wee bit surprised. It's just that i've got too much to write, and there isn't any point for me to a)spend an hour shortening the messages so it'd fit in, say, two tagboard posts, or b) fill up so many replies on my tagboard that the messages that were written by the two of you get wiped off the face of my board! So here goes:

@angel
cos i haven't perfected my bread technique yet lol. haha piss off, Wacko! i haven't even let anyone else try it besides my direct family. i might bring slices if we ever meet on a regular basis again (meaning if we enter the same university course or become colleagues or whatever), but i'll only let u have a whole loaf when i've finally declared myself a BREAD MASTER on this blog whahaha! don't worry, sometimes i just boast about myself here for fun so it might be sooner than u think! u lucky Wank! :D

erm i kinda knew that u liked buff guys, but RD Jr?? he almost had like man-boobs for this show lah. like his nipples were contantly poking out of his shirt. maybe it's because of the drugs he's doing...>.> my sister didn't have much of an opinion regarding the acquittal...lol she's quite smart u know; she wouldn't argue against his innocence after he's been officially acquitted by a frickin judge lah, oabao! of course it'd be different before the verdict was given. btw, my sister is quite a regular reader of my blog u know. Big Girl

@jayo
lol sorry i didn't tell u. it's ALL my fault lah. i hate life. hahaidontreallycare. haha but seriously speaking, i really do apologise for telling u two about it so late. the thing is i didn't think it was important enough to waste an sms to let u ppl know back at 7+pm on wednesday when i had already spent FIVE smses per person to inform u two about the verdict details. and back then me appearing on TV was only a possibility 'cos there were plenty of cameras and i didn't know if any of them had caught me or if they'd use the footage with me in it. plus i wasn't even sure they'd be able to put it all on the news after filming it just 2 hours ago, so i simply informed my mother of the possibility and it turns out that it did happen.

and u are completely right about the wasabi bread. i won't be able to stomach it. gosh maybe i shouldn't bake it after all...aaahh, dōshio ka nā..? (though i predict that the wasabi flavour in the bread would be MUCH weaker than the one in those accursed biscuits!)

He's been acquitted.
Hokay, the internet's finally back up.

I don't know what's the problem with my cable internet these days...it tends to go offline, then on, and at times i can't even surf for the whole afternoon. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my modem box, my house's cable infrastructure, or if it's an issue with Starhub itself. Quite frustrating.

Well, i baked bread without regular milk last sunday! Used soya-bean milk instead, and of course once again it turned out better than last week (it always does huh). WAY better actually, because i manually fashioned a narrow bread tin out of a wide barbeque tray and some aluminium foil, which gave the yeast more time to ferment, so this time the dough had lots of opportunity to rise.

In the end, the insides were more fluffy than before, the crust was as crispy and flaky as a standard croissant (i've got no idea how that happened) and the bread tasted great overall! A hint of a bitter aftertaste though; so faint that a bit of butter covers it up. I think it's a result of the soya-bean milk. This bread's also supposed to be more suited to being eaten with natto beans, miso - basically soya-based stuff - but i didn't have a chance to try it that way.

And sadly, my microwave oven's baking function doesn't seem to work so it seems that i'll be forever stuck using the big-frying-pan baking style sigh. Must i buy an oven in the future, i wonder? For next sunday's project, i bought a couple of pastry tins or whatever you call them. Decently tall tins so the dough's expansion would go even better last week's, although the tins are not as big as the standard square-dinner-sandwich type of tin that i'd like to have.

I bought another secret ingredient as well...WASABI!!! That's right, i'll be baking wasabi flavoured bread! Like OMG it's not even for me, it's more for my sister, at her request. I've started to develop a slight taste for wasabi these days, but i'm definitely not far enough along that road to be able to enjoy WASABI BREAD like wtf. Ahwell, since i bought small tins, i guess that's just perfect for my situation. I'll make a small loaf then; small enough that it'll be finished in a few bites and i won't have to save some of the loaf for breakfast the next day...0_o

Alright, on to other stuff now...on the most recent wednesday (i.e 2 days ago, officially) Mr William Ding got acquitted of all criminal charges! I'm really happy for him, because i do believe that he was innocent and a victim of this whole 3 year ordeal. His legal fees are going to be humongous, on the other hand; i don't know his exact fees but i have a rough idea of it. Sometimes i wonder if he ever thinks of suing those accusers for compensation for his legal fees (since it's my personal opinion - and the opinion of many - that the charges were all fraud and concocted). However, it'll require another lengthy trial and if i were in his shoes, i'm not sure if i'd have the stamina left for another tiresome legal battle.

As an intern in the firm that worked on his case, it's been a "job well done" for all of us and a good ending to all the labour we put in; double and triple-checking the submissions, preparing the evidence folders, and helping out in many other ways. To be honest, i'm pretty sad the whole episode is over, since it WAS quite a fun and educational experience. Of course, for Mr Ding's sake, i'd rather that the appeal wasn't even required in the first place! :D

Oh, and because of the trial, i also appeared on TV! Haha, it was on wednesday's 9 o'clock news which was shown again at 1+am the next day. Mostly video footage of me walking with and standing beside the two lawyers from my firm who i accompanied to the trial (which includes the esteemed Senior Counsel, of course). I had about ten to twenty seconds of air-time, which's actually not bad for a normal, ordinary guy like me who's never had any reason to appear on TV my whole life.

My mother taped down that news footage after i had told her beforehand that there was a high chance i'd appear on it. And for the whole of today (or rather, yesterday), she's been telling friends and relatives that i was on TV and talking about the case as if she was involved in it herself LOL. It's like i'm a TV star now! And i'm saying that after a few seconds on some news footage. Hahaha we're all such simple people.

To Angel and Jane: Whoops! You two should have really been there! There wasn't that much left to do after you people left High Court and you missed out on the chance to become BIG TV STARS!!! Lol.

Okay, to all readers (JUST in case): I'm kidding/being sarcastic about the TV star part. As in really. I'm not that self-conceited. Really. Seriously. Erps.

Anyway, today was Labour Day! I still don't know what the HECK Labour Day is for, after all these years, but hey, i don't mind, 'cos it's a holiday and i'll just take it with no complaints! Paid leave, banzai!!! :D:D:D

So i watched Iron Man today, and i have to say, it was pretty damn good! I've NEVER thought of Iron Man as a cool superhero while playing all those Marvel video games and reading all those Marvel comics, but the movie somehow made Iron Man seem like a damn freakin cool sonofabitch! Haha! I was thinking that it could be because of Robert Downey Jr's nice portrayal of the superhero, but it was probably helped the most by the movie's heavy (and cool) soundtrack. Definitely one of the best Marvel superhero movies by far (and i'm almost commiting a sin by comparing it to Fantastic Four..urgh!) and i recommend it to anyone with cash to burn and time to spare.

And talking about time, i really don't have much left tonight. Heck, it's 1.30AM already and there's work tomorrow. And i'm not yet asleep! Goodnight to all!
