Mother of 5 locked in battle with music industry
Judge: Woman accused of pirating songs 'doesn't know Kazaa from kazoo'

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - It was Easter Sunday, and Patricia Santangelo was in church with her kids when she says the music recording industry peeked into her computer and decided to take her to court.

Santangelo says she has never downloaded a single song on her computer, but the industry didn't see it that way. The woman from Wappingers Falls is among the more than 16,000 people who have been sued for allegedly pirating music through file-sharing computer networks.

"I assumed that when I explained to them who I was and that I wasn't a computer downloader, it would just go away," she said in an interview. "I didn’t really understand what it all meant. But they just kept insisting on a financial settlement."

The industry is demanding thousands of dollars to settle the case, but Santangelo, unlike the 3,700 defendants who have already settled, says she will stand on principle and fight the lawsuit.

"It's a moral issue," she said. "I can't sign something that says I agree to stop doing something I never did."

If the downloading was done on her computer, Santangelo thinks it may have been the work of a young friend of her children. Santangelo, 43, has been described by a federal judge as "an Internet-illiterate parent, who does not know Kazaa from kazoo, and who can barely retrieve her e-mail."

Going it alone
The drain on her resources to fight the case — she's divorced, has five children aged 7 to 19 and works as a property manager for a real estate company — forced her this month to drop her lawyer and begin representing herself.

"There was just no way I could continue on with a lawyer," she said. "I'm out $24,000 and we haven't even gone to trial."

So on Thursday she sat alone at the defense table before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Fox in White Plains, looking a little nervous and replying simply, "Yes, sir" and "No, sir" to his questions about scheduling and evidence exchange.

She did not look like someone who would have downloaded songs like Incubus' "Nowhere Fast," Godsmack's "Whatever" and Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life," all of which were allegedly found on her computer.

Her former lawyer, Ray Beckerman, said Santangelo doesn't really need him.

"I'm sure she’s going to win," he said. "I don't see how they could win. They have no case. They have no evidence she ever did anything. They don’t know how the files appeared on her computer or who put them there."

Ah hah! Take that music industry! I really hope that woman wins the case and counter-sues for thousands and gets back all her money and THEN some. Then it'll be a real victory - not for music downloaders but for common (and not exactly well-off) folk. Let this be a lesson to these music bigwigs sitting in their big mansions with all their F-ed up "power" that if they want to stop music piracy, they're better off using the carrot rather than the whip. By victimising and finding fault with poor folk and threatening everyone in general with lawsuits, they'll only gain more enemies while not alleviating the problem in the slightest.

Let's face it: Most people DO have pirated/downloaded music files on their computer. True, some are still downloading, but there are some people who downloaded a thing or two in the past (aka napster days) but have now stopped. Should the music industry be allowed to "peek" into everyone's computers and pick the weakest victims (aka those without $$ to get a lawyer) to sue? Should they even be peeking? Obviously Micro*cough* does it all the time, in a way, but i'm sure the industry's probably crossed the line of Law a few times already, in doing so.

If music sales aren't good, maybe it's the music's fault, not that of the imaginary "mass downloaders" who lurk in the shadows. Perhaps the industry should stop releasing all these R&B/Rap trash which have totally lousy tunes/lousy singing/crappy beats. There're lots of dudes nowadays who make crappy music CDs, but sell lots of 'em by advertising their rich & lavish lifestyles via MTV, etc to appeal to the consumer. How idiotic. Oh, wait, how did they get rich in the first place..?

The day suprnova.org closed down...
Got this entry from jasoncryosphere.blogspot.com

The Truth Story of Suprnova.org

In November 2004, the world’s largest bittorrent site got shut down permanently. There where a lot of rumours about what happened, but any official statement never came. Tonight, the owner of Suprnova.org has published the whole story.

For a year now, there have been many rumors why SuprNova.org was taken offline. Some have said that it was because of legal issues, some said it was because I sold out to eXeem project, or because I became a millionaire and did not want to bother with the site anymore, and the rumors go on.

Today, on the exact day, when SuprNova.org went offline, I decided that it is time for everybody to know the truth and that it is time for me to stop pretending like nothing ever happened.

On November 2004, I received a call from my ISP saying that all of my servers had been raided by the police. I received nothing from the police before or after the raid, nobody told me what was going on.

In early December, Reuters did an article on me, and many Slovenian newspapers jumped on the story. So I ended up reading about myself in Slovenian newspapers. And right about that time, I had a feeling something was wrong. I do not really know what the feeling was or where it was coming from, but I decided it was time to take SuprNova.org offline.

About a month later, after SuprNova.org had been taken offline, there was a door bell at 6:30 in the morning, saying it's the police. Actually I was not expecting anything anymore, since SuprNova.org had been taken offline long before that. They showed me a court order to search my place and they did so. They took as far as I remember, two of my computers and lots of documents.

About a month or so later, I was called to the police, so that we or actually they, did a list of all the files that were on all of the computers that they took from my home and from the ISP.

Another month later, I was called to the police for my hearing. I and my lawyer decided, we wouldnt answer any questions. After this was over, the police told us they will give this to the prosecutor and he will continue the procedure. My lawyer told me, that I should expect a letter from the prosecutor after the summer holidays.

And that was true, nothing happened during the summer holidays and I had quite a wonderful time. Very relaxed.

And just when I was hoping that the prosecutor would forget about my case I received another letter. When I received the paper, that I had to go pick up the envelope at the post, I became completely depressed and sad. But anyway, I went to the post and picked up the document. It was from the prosecutor, saying by the law blah blah and blah blah the denunciation against Andrej Preston has been dropped. And I received all the CD's and computers that they took from me. This happened on 18th October 2005.

Since then nothing happened, and I hope it stays that way. This has been a huge pressure on me and I think it left some permanent marks on me. I hope none of you will ever have to go through something like this.

What is written above is just a short story of everything that went on during last year. I also do not want to give out too much information, since it wouldn't be wise.

Thanks to all of the friends that knew about this and supported me as much as they could! Its been a hard year for all of us.

For those of you who don't know, suprnova.org was once a huge website that allowed people to download torrent files off the internet. If you're a newbie, bit-torrent sorta works like..er Kazaa and Napster except you use your own client/application to get the stuff. Suprnova.org didn't actually provide or host non-copyrighted data, but like napster it was the middle-man in these dealings.

The Oxford dictionary says that "stealing" is to "take something without permission and without intending to return it". For people with not-that-great english, it's like "buying"...except you don't pay. -.- I suppose if you use that definition, downloading copyrighted stuff for free off the internet IS a form of stealing.

Using applications like bit-torrent to obtain stuff like music for free IS a crime, in my opinion. It's sad, however, how the music industry's reacted to music piracy. They seem to treat this whole thing like it's some kind of war, and advertising is directed towards citizens in a desperate attempt to turn them from "the Dark Side". Those who download music without any thought for profit (poor little teenagers for example) are demonized and sued for tonnes of cash. Or rather their parents are.

It's not as if the music industry suffers A LOT. Apparently there are studies that show that music sales aren't affected by music downloads. In fact it can be boosted by it. I must reiterate to you people that music piracy is WRONG, but then again things would be a lot better if music CDs cost less. There is some progress taken in that direction at least, but i think there's also a very bad income policy or something in the music industry. Like how some people in the industry get paid much more than the rest. I don't really know much about it so i can't really say.

Because of music piracy, So-and-so of So-and-so band now cannot afford to buy his gold-plated swimming pool. Bleah. More on music piracy next time...

On a nicer note, i just bought my new LCD SCREEN! It's a black Philips 190B, very cheap for its specs (like S$570). But it's a BIT too big for my liking (19-inch). I kinda feel...dwarfed by it. And now i have to look diagonally UP at the screen while the screen sits on its grand altar and looks down at its faithful servant....er well i suppose it'll take some getting used to.

Anyway, i'll write about the rest of my NY trip soon! Planning to do a "S'porean's lame guide to Manhattan" as well, so keep on a lookout!

Still in the US...
Woah it's been a long time since i went online. 4 days..is it? Can't be bothered to check. That's 'cos the damned Canadian hotel had no free internet...i don't think it had ANY internet except for its computer booths or something. Sigh, i'll have to finish fast too 'cos my sis's gonna be using it after she gets out of the shower. I really miss my super-ultra-power computer at home. Without it i can't play dota, can't run any damned program i like (this is an Apple iBook btw) can't have access to all my files can't use it anytime i want and CAN'T start up my azureus...Apple is weird. The browser feels weird. Still can't imagine life without right-clicks and double-clicks...

Anyway over the past few days i've been in Canada...at the Fallsview Resort near Niagara Falls. At Niagara falls actually. Haven't really done much...went to eat at RED LOBSTER finally and went to see Niagara Falls (it's freakin cold over there at the moment!) but other than that it's just going out for meals and staying in the hotel room watching anime while my family (mostly my mum) goes to the casino. My mum's this super casino woman lol. Plays only slot machines and doesn't bet big (she bets in 1-5cents...which i recommend for all you slots people who wanna stay safe) BUT she makes that up with enthusiasm haha. Last night was the last day at the casino so she stayed up still 4.30+am pressing that button. I've heard of much worse stories tho...

Oh but watching Bleach (the anime) was fun! More fun than mahjong haha. Brought the 53 episodes i had to US/Canada and watched them all over a period of 3-4days. I never thought that 53episodes wouldn't be enough. But it really isn't! I'm stuck at the part where (SPOILERS) rukia's about to get hanged and that dude Kurosaki Ichigo hasn't learnt his bankai yet and i can't get any new episodes till i'm back in Singapore. Argh! Makes me miss my dear Ilyena (the comp) even more. Anyway i don't want to tell you people about the story in case i spoil it for you, but Bleach's really really good! Enjoying it even more than i did for Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin. If you like anime go get Bleach and watch! You won't regret it! Hmm maybe next time i'll go see what's all the fuss about Naruto as well...

Besides that, i played a bit of mahjong with my family. It's my only avenue to earn some gambling money but so far things aren't going so well. Was winning about 4bucks after the 1st 2 days but the last day was so horrid that i'm now having a deficit of US$2.75. Damn. My mahjong still isn't that great yet i think. And i COULD get a bit more favours from Lady Luck here...Worried about the next time we play mahjong 'cos my mum lost $$ at slots...and looking at form she counters that by winning mahjong money from us...0_o

Ahwell, that kinda sums up my US trip so far. All of the above plus lots of shopping (where i'm starting to buy less and less stuff. Dunno why but i really don't want anything anymore. When i went to the 3rd factory outlet mall i didn't get anything. And didn't get anything for the 2days after THAT.) Oh yah you guys have 5days to place orders with me! Not that i expect any of you to do it. =| Sigh well i hope i can start exercising soon...haven't done anything the past few days but i've eaten SO much. American servings can get quite crazy. And i have to eat the stuff my mum/sis can't finish. I swear i'm getting fat. Go NS sure die sia.

Well my sis's out now (lol she takes 1hr to bathe 0.0). Guess i gotta end off. Oh if anyone still reads this er can you tell me if my previous post has some weird characters popping up? Thanks. 'Cos that's what i see right now! Darn Apple! Erps.

A VERY long post about the 1st 2 days of vacation...
Whew, finally I get the chance to update my blog…it’s been, what, 3 days since my last update? For those who don’t know, I’m now 2 days into the New York/Niagara Falls trip with my parents and sister (my family lah). We’re currently in Ithica, NY, halfway between New Jersey – where our plane landed – and Niagara Falls – our destination.

It’s currently 5.30am US time at the moment, so everyone else’s asleep now. I kinda slept at 9pm and woke up at like 4.30am today…and I did the same yesterday. So weird…normally during the hols I’d sleep at 9AM and wake up at 4.30PM. Maybe it’s the jet-lag, but if I had this habit during school days I bet my mum would’ve been so happy lah!

Anyway, on Monday my parents and I left Singapore in the morning to go to the airport…There we didn’t have to check in normally, ‘cos my dad’s quite a frequent flyer, so he kinda got Solitaire membership for all of us. So we got our luggage and check-ins all taken care of and we got to sit in this lounge with free-flow of coffee, milo, tea, fruits, ice cream, noodles, sandwiches, juices, beer, etc etc. I suppose Solitaire members’re supposed to be rich fags or something, that’s why Kris-Air or whatever can afford to give free-flow of stuff in airplanes and lounges like these without having to worry about being overrun by typical S’porean kiasu-ism…

The plane ride (SQ dunno what plane) was 17hrs long…which’s pretty amazing when u think that trips to Chicago via Japan used to take over 27hrs. When I was a small kid trips like those seemed like a never-ending journey (never-ending torture actually) where I’d be counting down to the end of the trip 5hrs before it ended. Nothing really great happened on that plane trip, except there was this hot babe of a stewardess (I think she was quite new) whose butt kept like hitting into my head or elbow by accident when she was serving drinks…err nevermind. =|

Took the time on the plane to learn Japanese numbers and stuff about New York City. I also watched Sex and the City episodes and a few movies. Like Goal!, which I thought was quite shallow and lame, unfortunately, despite me being a Newcastle supporter, and 40-year old Virgin, which I stopped watching halfway ‘cos it was getting embarrassing for that dude. Stopped watching The Seven Swords or whatever halfway as well, ‘cos I kinda thought that the movie sucked. It lacked a lot of characterization…maybe they should just have FIVE swords instead of seven.

50 First Dates was quite nice though…It stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and it’s about a man (Sandler) who tries who woo a girl (Barrymore) who had got into an accident and somehow got a condition where she forgets everything that happened during the day when she sleeps at the end of that day. So she thinks that it’s still 1 year ago and her family tries to keep up that façade for her protection…Don’t have the time to talk about the details, but anyway it ends (SPOILERS) with her waking up on a ship, watching the video of her life and what has happened while she had lost her short-term memory (she got married to Sandler) and then she gets up onto deck, sees and hugs the daughter that she didn’t know she had and she starts crying. Such a bittersweet ending sia…like how would it be like if you woke up everyday to watch a video about what has happened in your life so far and to know that all the sweet memories everyday would be personally lost to you forever once you’ve slept. I almost cried when I imagined how the life of that girl would turn out to be in the future.

Well, we landed shortly in Newark International Airport, where we met up with my sis who jus arrived from Chicago herself. We were supposed to go to Courtyard Marriot Hotel to stay for the night, but we ended up getting lost on the freeways of New York..-.- Even with the help of Neverlost, we kept getting misleaded and kept taking the wrong turn on the highway. (Neverlost’s some kind of equipment that is linked to a satellite. You just have to type in your destination and they’ll gather information on your current location and guide you – via the shortest routes or other preferences – to the place. They sorta scan your current location real time as well and they even highlight the route you must take in pink. It tells you the distance required before you reach the next turn and which exit to take, and this woman gives you verbal instructions on where to turn at appropriate times. It’s really a must-have nowadays for tourists in the US.) So we’d be 8miles from our destination when we’d take an exit that we THOUGHT we had to take…then that “woman” would go “Calculating route…” and the new route given would require that we drive another 20miles…=| We kept going around in circles and there was a ticking time-bomb too, in the form of my car-sickness and err bladder-control issues.

We managed to reach the hotel eventually however. 1+hour for a 3mile ride…imagine that. The whole family bunked together in 1 room for the night. Courtyard Marriot’s a kinda lower-class Marriot, and we didn’t even get complimentary breakfast or anything. They’ve got a cool mall nearby though, with factory outlets of almost all the major brands, etc. We went there the next day. I bought a pair of jeans there from American Eagle…cost me around US$30, which’s very cheap when you consider that a pair of similar quality would be around $70+ in Singapore and would go for like HK$300++ in Hong Kong (dun go shopping in HK city malls it’s damn ex) Oh anyway I’ll probably be going to many factory outlets in the US, so if you want me to help you buy stuff just write on my tagboard and I’ll see whether I can…acquire them for you. :)

We then took our car and drove it all the way here, in Ithica. Quite a scenic route and I took quite a few photos of the snowy bliss that we drove past. We’ve now spent the night at a Great Eastern motel, and today’s the next half of our trip to Niagara Falls. This USA trip seems quite ok so far. Of course I’d rather go out with friends and go bowling or K-Box-ing or LAN-ning. Or go out and play basketball or stay home and mess around with the computer. I'm beginning to miss my friends i think...had a dream about VJ schoolmates, cousins and even some RI dudes just now. But here at least I get to enjoy the scenery and especially the COLD! Lol I just miss those cosy winter nights when I lived in the US. With all that snow and all that freedom. And I just love the bigger food portions! Haha in Singapore sometimes I have to buy two meals just to feel satisfied!

Ok, I’ve finally finished typing this entry…sort of, Now I’ll have to wait for my sis to wake up and tell me her password or whatever so I can log on to the internet and post this. Typing this on Microsoft Word now…on her Apple IBook G4. I think I’m too used to Windows already. Apple is quite confusing. I think I might change to Linux next time, but definitely not Macintosh-type operating systems. Just can’t imagine life without right-clicks and double-clicks. And I don’t think I can run 2 internet browsers at once. Which really sucks ‘cos I’m like such a chronic multi-tasker. Ahh goddamnit. Maybe I should just go to sleep.

ok...another super - long post abt chalet and stuff!
Woah...It's been a few days since i've posted. Not very good to be so inconsistent, but i do think, despite me acknowledging this, that my entries'll start to get less frequent eventually. Phew, like i'm saying that it's a long post on the title but ironically i hope it'll be as short as possible. Maybe it's because i've been having really long days recently so i haven't had the time to blog or to think of stuff to blog...which i definitely did before exams were over and before all the activities. For example it's 4.30am now, i'm super tired and i'm feeling quite daunted about having to spend the next hour or more writing a blog entry. I'll do my best anyway, 'cos i think this blog'll be incomplete without an entry on the class chalet.. (Note: for you readers out there, i suggest that you don't read the next few paragraphs in detail, 'cos it'll be a real time-waster. I'm writing this less as entertainment for others than as a memoir for me to read when i want to remember those days. So i hope no one complains that "this post is too long!" or "why are you telling us all this??")

Well, about the details of the chalet: It was on the 7th to 9th of December and it was at Aloha Loyang. (we went there last year too) 3 days 2 nights and involved the class of 04S15 - although tianying, Goat and his erm Princess-Leiya made an appearance too. And Ningxi stayed till the end..but hey she IS from 04s15. Pretty fun over all, and our class became more bonded somewhat, which's pretty good because our class did need some "bonding"..=

It's a good thing i brought cereal, plastic containers and ESPECIALLY milk, speakers, mahjong set and mahjong mat to the chalet...along with the drinks i was supposed to bring. It turns out that, for the speakers and milk at least, no one had thought to bring these. Alamak, without speakers how to have good music? And the milk was useful for the pancakes and for simple consumption too. (all four cartons were finished by the end of it!) Mahjong set was essential, i think. In fact i spent most of the 1st day playing mahjong...1st with jonathan, tianying and jaclyn (which i won by over 10+bucks) and post dinner with chinhow, and ian/jonathan/celine/angele/ningxi - they kept changing places and all. That one chinhow won..he kinda won most of the other 4-feng mahjong games the rest of the chalet.

1st day dinner was quite fun...helped out a bit with the food (breaking chicken wings cooking etc) but was kinda sick of barbeques so i let the other hardworking people cook while i sat in the dining room most of the time and ate. =x Ivy and maryann started to stir-fry a lot of stuff in the kitchen too 'cos the barbeque fire was too low and cooking was slow...and the damn oil somehow floated into the air and landed on my mahjong tiles! Sobz man...All in all the food was pretty good. But very messy.

Sadly, Mr Phang was the only teacher who visited us during the barbeque...the others were missing for one reason or another. He had a baby almost right after his wedding last year...my gosh they didn't hold back did they LOL...so his wife had already given birth a few months ago. He brought his little pre-toddler to the chalet; her name's ashley (i think..can't really remember), she looks like a china doll and she's got this really cute and wacky kind of laugh. And she does laugh very often. If u wanna see a photo of her, do contact me! :)

After the barbeque it was another bout of mahjong and some cards before sleep time beckoned. This was around 3+am. By this time quite a few people had left (e.g. tianying goat leiya diana jaclyn weiliang ben mingjoo etc..- ben and goat had to go 'cos they had NS the nxt day btw...poor guys sia. Eugene too.) Which STILL left enough people that there were hardly enough beds for everyone. Half of us had to sleep on something other than beds. Tried to sleep on a few chairs lined up but it hurt my side, so i ended up under the table. Yup, you heard it right. I was like... Under the Table and Dreaming LOL. Felt more like a coffin actually; dust and all. Nasty dreams too. And woke up very often in order to switch position (the floor seemed v v v hard that day..) Ended up sleeping sub-3hrs from 4.30 to 7.30am and woke up feeling very shitty. AND celine still had the nerve to complain about her BED! GOSH. "Argh my bed felt so HARD last night! And the room was like so COLD.." The worst thing was that she was actually SERIOUS about it. Haha!

The 2nd day was a bit more fun, i daresay...After bridge session with clarence, kuangting, chinleng and chinhow (as usual the players came and went) i went to change and it was swimming time! Haha btw i think it's been VERY long since i've really spoke with clarence..like after that incident and all - but for now we're just all like acting as if it never happened so it's not really resolved.

Anyway "swimming time" involved only me and chinhow, and also nick/zhipeng (lol i always call him by both names 'cos ppl call him by both names..personally i call him zhipeng but mostly he calls himself nick...so confusing) and maryann...both of whom had gone swimming earlier with ivy. Fooled around with the water slide and played some water-polo with the other 3. Zp got down to the usual "dirty tricks" like grabbing balls and scratching (lol kidding only but he really did that!) so i countered with the standard RI style of dunking and jabbing below the "belt". In the end the team comprising of me and maryann completely whooped the other side! Well...by two goals. After that it was jacuzzi time haha where we sat in this super cool mini-pool with heated water and lots of bubbling etc. Gossiped and joked around for like an hour or so i think.

After that we went back to the chalet where the rest who decided not to go swimming were just finished with their mahjong/card games. After lunch it was mahjong yet again, this time with chinhow and ian/maryann/celine/ningxi/angele...Quite a few people left at this time, leaving us with maryann, ningxi, chinhow, ian and myself. Ivy came back before dinner and jonathan and yinting returned a bit later. Dinner involved the frying/boiling of, er, maggi mee and leftover chicken/satay/stingray. Tasted ok, but was super high in saturated fat. Urgh. It was very fun though...cooking together as a whole bunch.

Dinner was followed by clean-up time, where we mopped/cleaned/wiped all the floors and tables, etc of the chalet. Rubbish was cleared and litter was picked up. The mahjong set was kept for good as well. :( There was another card game with me,jonathan/chinhow, ian, maryann and myself where we played taitee and bluff. (gosh i miss bluff sia) Then all 8 of us went into the guy's room where we had card tricks and played identity heart-attack, which was a whole lotta fun, with LOTS of screaming and frantic memorisation. After that, 7 of us (yinting had some stuff the next day and had to sleep early) had a gossip/chatting session where we talked about lots of stuff...mostly about relationships and other friends but a lot about teachers and future plans in general. Quite a lot of crazy things being said...like maryann and ivy's 'crush' on eugene and chinhow's er...thing for a certain teacher for example. LOL. Was really a nice get-together, even though it only involved the 8 of us.

It was late by then, so we slept. (this time there were enough beds..) Woke up the next day, packed up and it was time to head home (and nurse those sun-burnt pains). All in all i'd say that the chalet bbq/stay-overs and all that was pretty uneventful but still very fruitful. There wasn't much to do besides mahjong and cards, but i think the class really did get closer to each other. I think that if i had to name the one person i got to know the most, it'd be maryann..what with all the mahjong and swimming and gossip sessions and all. From what i can sense, she's a nice person and has got a good mix of silliness, kiddiness and (yet) maturity and responsibility in her. It's been great having you as our CT rep, maryann! So, hey, i'm not bitching about you on this blog what! (Lol i mean if i wanted to bitch i'd do it where you wouldn't know about it right?)

Ok, so now that's out of the way. Today (or rather, yesterday) was just as eventful i think. Went out with my cousins today! :) Haha 1st we went K-Box where we sang lots of stuff (lol ronald was bloody funny) then went to LAN at the top floor of Cineleisure (where i completely owned my n00b cousins at dota...my performance managed to convince some kids that i was good enough to join a clan competition so i suppose i did pretty well.) After that was dinner and then bowling. And next, we went to my cousins' house (racheland nicholas foo's) to play a bit of Soul Caliber 2 and to play with the dog and all. Home beckoned after such a long day which ended at like 1am. This part of the entry seems quite short somehow...maybe 'cos there's only 4 main events and the fact that i'm gonna skip out on all the details. ("Phew, thank goodness you realise that it wasn't needed, greg!") Very fun, yet again, with all the jokes and activities. Despite the large amounts of time i spent with my schoolmates, i think i'm still the most comfortable around cousins and my extended family. Which doesn't include jiayun consequently for those who know...(although most people won't exactly understand..)

Well i'd better end now. It's almost 6am now so i'm getting really sleepy.. (as if i wasn't sleepy before i started!!) I apologise for any lack of details, lame jokes, bad sense of humour and any grammatical errors that i made, and i blame it solely on my utter drowsiness and complete lack of time. I've gotta go pack for the New York trip which's..tomorrow actually. In the morning. (my departure's at 10am) I haven't started packing yet. Sigh, i've still got so many things to do. So tired of it all. I'm quite tired of packing, especially. Had to pack before going to the chalet, had to pack before and during the NY/Niagara trip. And right after that, i have to start packing for NS. Man. This sucks, having to think so many times like how many sets of underwear do i need and whether have enough space to bring this and that. Ahwell, i'd better end here.

Ok, so nothing much happened today, apart from gaming, chatting with a few people, reading the papers and dinner at Lagoon. Totally uneventful. But can't think of anything to really pass the time. Woke up at like 3pm AS USUAL, and after this i'll probably sleep at 7am AS USUAL. Doh. It's already 6am. Maybe i should restart my reading of the Wheel of Time series, although that WILL take up lots of time. (i'm allocating that as a NY/Niagara Falls trip past-time anyway)

Computer games are horribly boring at the moment, partially because i don't have many and some aren't working for some reason. I need to go out more. I need to start my training regime and boost my stamina/muscle mass which's now at an all-time low...at least when compared to my JC years...I need something more interesting in my life. I think. And NS won't fit this bill by the way. 0_o Ahwell anyway i had some time to kill so i did some weird quizzes on blogthings. Might as well post them here. Gotta go then...i'll write more next time. Will try to finish that "homework" for celine by..er..this morning too.

Haha it's all quite accurate i suppose. I think people who know me would agree. Hmm but my blog colour should be purple? Lol actually blue-purple's sort of my favourite colour. But i still like it black as it is. :)

What Happened For the Past Three Days. Really.
Haha, ok lah since you people seem to have problems reading the blog. I suppose, previously, it seemed ok for me because i knew what was written already. So i just increased the font size! Pretty easy to figure out once i found the right section. Personally, i thought that the smaller font made it more neat, but reader-friendly is what counts more! :) I can always change the font back if there are even more problems as a result. Hmm but you guys will have more scrolling to do now, which makes reading my entries quite a dizzying affair. And chinhow, i'm not sure if u read blogs often or not, but most people's blog fonts are even smaller than mine!

Maybe it's because of the font colour. I don't want to change the background colour, but i could try to make the font like plain white or something and use thicker letters if it helps. What i won't want to do, however, is to write shorter entries or what-have-you if people do request for that. If i write shorter entries, it'll just be because i'm too lazy. :x If any of you are simply averse to reading long entries, like being averse to reading long novels, (like Wheel of Time, for example) or appreciating literary pieces, (not that THIS is one!) then i can't help you there. It could be that my paragraphs are too long as well, so it makes my words look like one big blob. I'll try shortening my paragraphs this time. Do give me your suggestions for any improvements i can make.

Ok, now that that's over with, let me continue by first apologising to my dear excited readers, because i've decided not to type an entry about relationships after all! No particular reason apart from a lack of motivation and content. (well, currently at least) But, hey i still need to tell you people about my past 3 days!

Haha, how to start...well on the 1st of December the batch of 2005 had our prom night! (a.k.a. Senior Dinner and Dance) Didn't do much to prepare for it, personally...just wore a suit that i bought a few months ago for another occasion and dyed my hair with like many brown/dunno what colour highlights. Some people said they didn't notice my hair colour though. Perhaps i should have dyed it green or something. Lol. As in seriously! I think dyeing it odd colours, like purple maybe, is pretty cool. Especially since army's coming soon and you're doing this just to go wild and attract some attention on the side.

The function itself was pretty ok...nothing too extravagant. The MC (Dennis De Souse or whatever) was decent, the dance items were nice, the games were decent, the food was decent (some of my friends had fish that was too..er..fishy though) and the music was good. Some of those bands at least. Not that it really mattered anyway, because most of us were too focused on chatting and taking photos (some were doing it as if they were collecting BOUNTIES haha) to really listen to some of the tunes on show.

I think almost everyone looked really good that day. The gals that is. No kidding. Thank God for makeup. Lol i took a lot of photos myself with many people, so you could put it crudely that i've got a lot of..bounties..on offer. I can't upload them on the blog though. Because i don't really know how. And i get the feeling it'll involve a lot of "work". And i don't feel like doing much "work" right now. You can chat with me via the tagboard though. Just tell me er..WHO you want, and i can arrange to send it to you. LOL. Only deprived males need apply. And deprived females too, of course, lest i be labelled a CHAUVANIST. -.-

The prom king/queen contest was, sadly, quite a disappointment. The contestants were just asked simple questions which simply required simple one-word answers. No dares, no challenges, and i think some of the nominees were quite conservative and seemed unwilling to give the crowd a bit of entertainment or to just open up a bit more about themselves. I suppose most of the contestants weren't exactly the comical, loud-mouthed, gift-of-the-gap type of folk, like you-know-who. Haha.

Oh and the screens by the sides which showed how you can vote for the prom king/queen and the number to sms to was so unnoticeable! Even if they WERE big. The MC should have really brought our attention to it. By the time i noticed it myself, it was already Q&A section. And by the time the MC did mention the screens, the voting was already over. In addition, we were given a grand total of about 20seconds after the Q&A to vote for prom queen/king. In fact we were supposed to vote BEFORE that. So what's the purpose of the Q&A then? How's the contest going to be accurate? Sigh, whatever it is, prom king/queen contest in VJ can't match the glamour and romance of those in American high schools. Probably because the culture is really lacking, here in S'pore.

After the prom dinner a whole bunch of VJ students went to Indochine to party. Haha i think that day they let in 17year olds or something too, because i managed to get in! (My birthday's on 31st dec...so i was still a month away from turning 18) And there were a whole bunch of year ones there too, and THEY definitely weren't 18 yet. And i thought that some of those year1s were really havoc! Lol more on that later.

My first time in a club/pub so it was all pretty cool; the ultra loud music and the dancing and the drinks and the couches and all. I've consumed alcohol, listened to loud music and danced disco in a large group on separate occasions, but to have it all together in a dark room with so many people felt really new. I really loved the ambience. Not something i'd want to do often, but very enjoyable nonetheless. So i bought a drink (made the mistake of trying to get something strong - brandy on the rocks - damn i should've gotten a vodka lime or rum-ice or something) and just danced till i was sweating buckets. (i was dancing in my suit! 'cos i had no one to take care of it) Went back home at 2.30am, however, which's very early actually. 2hrs in the club - not very long i suppose.

Some of the year1s probably hung around till morning. When i left, dory & her er-hem were still like dancing so close that they were practically humping each other..0.0 (lol ok i'm not sure if they really did that but it sure looked like it from my angle!) And i can't even begin to describe what sheena and 2 other year1s were doing..."gangbang" or "squishing" or "oreo" are the most apt words i can think of.

The next day nothing much...just preparing for SATs on saturday. I couldn't go online anyway because my mum pulled out my internet plug in order to keep my mind on my work. : SATs itself was quite easy. Lots of VJ people came as well, like shawn, jacqueline, santosh, etc. My sister's bf's sister Liyu from Hwa Chong JC was taking the test at the same time also. Turns out that she knows some of my friends in VJ...really is a small world after all.

After the very very exhaustive and time-consuming SATs, i went back, ate lunch, taught shawn a bit of dota (haha he seems quite talented lol) ate dinner then went for VJ choir concert. The usual good stuff i think. Talked quite a bit with shawn about body-building haha, and he kept insisting this ok-looking girl from choir looked good! Like what the hell. And after that went to uncle's place (wow peter crouch finally scored a goal), and now i'm home! Ok i've finally managed to keep this blog in touch with current events. Now i'll have to end this entry off very suddenly. Because it's game time.
