Long break coming to an end haiz
Well, i've had quite a lot of fun these days...like duh right, since i've spent only one day in camp ever since last tuesday...That thursday spent in camp was tough though. I'm into the 2nd half of my extended break already...just one more sunday and monday to go and it's back to "normal duties" haiz....

Nothing really GREAT of note has happened so far...lemme see..on tuesday i went out BOWLING with diana, chinhow, tzeyang and kenneth...my first time all year if i'm not wrong. I still got a bit of my old touch; accuracy-wise i'm still hitting that pocket with practically every throw. But somehow i'm getting less strikes, and i can't hit the right sided pins on a 2nd shot for spare.

Went bowling again on thursday night, this time with some army friends, but i had the same response, with even more unlucky spare attempts. Haiz it's like basketball...play so much but now my standard's dropped so much. I'm still at least getting above 100, but 150+ is way beyond me i fear.

Played mahjong after tuesday's bowling though, with usual suspects chinhow and relative newbies diana and her, well, relatively new boyfriend, KJ. (don't ask me for his full name, i only know him as "KayJay" and it seemed pretty rude to ask him for his true, probably less cool name) I won like...less than a dollar because it was quite even in the end..i think i had too many close calls with qing yi se though so it could've been very different. Like i bet diana would've lost a BOMB except that she had all that arse-luck..what with her drawing all the flower tiles and stuff.

Oh that thrusday night was pretty eventful too! Haha before bowling we had gone to eat at Prego...this super expensive place (to me at least) at Raffles City. Went there directly from camp via a taxi..and i've gotta say that it was THE worst cab ride i've ever taken! Haha the cab driver was some kinda near-middle aged man with super long hair..he kinda looked like some Taiwan gangster, except he was spewing hokkien stuff all the way. At half the red lights, he'd open the whole driver's door to SPIT onto the road, and he was like chatting half the time on the phone with his right hand holding the phone while his left hand did the steering AND the changing of gears.

Haha worst still, he had like 5 over smses which he just couldn't resist replying to immediately! Like what the hell, he was actually replying an sms (and basically looking at his phone with occasional glances in front of him) while bloody driving on the right lane of the expressway! And like the phone calls his left hand was just holding onto the bottom of the steering wheel and steering...and of course he had no hands on the wheel when he changed gears. He was an asshole of a driver too, like he refused to let ANYONE overtake him or change lanes in front of him...he'd honk whenever anyone tried to cut into his lane and then he'd speed up and zoom past...there were some pretty close calls on the road.

Then after that whole dangerous ordeal, where i think he took me the long way (i don't think it's $14.90 from Bukit Panjang to City Hall MRT..), i gave him $15 and he was like "Ok ok thank you, $15 can right? It's just 10cents right?" Like WTF..i thought I was supposed to be the one offering to let him keep the change. I decided not to take down his licence plate number or whatever 'cos i don't want to be a vengeful angel of destruction or anything...all i can remember is "SGH-blah blah dunno what number".

Now that i think about it, he didn't have a taxi licence to display or whatever it's called (you know, the one where "You're driving in comfort with so-and-so..)...i get the feeling that he's an illegal foreign worker or simply the actual taxi driver's brother's-friend's-brother's friend or dunno what else -.-.

Prego itself was BLARDY not worth it, to me. I ordered this lamb chops dish which sounded and, in the end, tasted like the one i had in HongKong (which's a GOOD thing), except that the serving size was a bit small...38 bux too..pretty steep (or as Terrence would say, pricey) unless you compare it to local French restaurants or NY or HK gourmet bars or whatever. Drinks was not even worth considering..$6.50 for a glass of COKE and $9.50 for a glass of ORANGE JUICE; just imagine that. All in all, the food tasted good, but i think i can get more for less elsewhere.

The rest of my extended break has been spent with parents and at home, playing the computer and finishing up on Moon Phase. Next up is Full Metal Alchemist...quite a promising anime from what i've heard so far...i've only done the first episode but i'm optimistic about how it'll end up. After that...i don't know what else to watch lah haiz..Final Approach? Full Metal Panic 2? Rozen Maiden? Burst Angel? Trigun? Love Hina? Lol..can't find most of these out in shops though, and as it is i'm coming down to the tail-end (20bucks, to be exact) of my 200 dollar a month budget. Sigh..when is Naruto fillers gonna end??? Bleach too! Both of them have been going on FOREVER.

And finally, today i went out with the usual people (jac, ken, tzeyang, chinhow...i'm spending too much time mentioning their names over and over again..maybe i should just refer to them as JKTC or smthn) to watch this movie; PRESTIGE! Errr...quite hard to say what i think of the movie, 'cos it's the type where you..er..don't actually enjoy watching it, but at the end of it you really respect the script-writer, the story-line, the way the scenes were directed, all of that.

The whole movie's very...symbolic, somehow, and there're so many twists and turns..deeper and more clever than, say, Infernal Affairs. Where every scene, every gesture and conversation exchange is just another hint to the unwary viewer about what has actually happened, which's revealed to all only in the climax of the last 5 minutes of the movie. Don't want to spoil it for you people anymore, but it's really, seriously, a GREAT movie! One that i WOULDN'T recommend! LOL.

Anyhow, i'm now waiting for certain people to come online...haiz dunno where they are. Well, i'm still gonna end here, regardless! More updates in the future!

Wow, bought some eNtErTaInMeNt..
Haha, it's been a long time since i last blogged...the fact that blogger.com was no longer part of my quick URL list kinda speaks volumes. Well, i finally got off my skinny-ass and now I AM WRITING!! Woohoo..even though what i REALLY wanna do is take a bath. And get something to eat. Not blog, for sure.

Well hmm...for army stuff...well i'm going to Australia in November 21st or something..and i'll be back around the 10th of December...which would've been a nice long vacation except that i'll be headed to the middle of NOWHERE. And i'll be doing really crappy things and basically sweating in my uniform which i'd have probably worn through the sandfly bites and desert dust for the past week. Or hopefully just 3 days. Which's still B-A-D. Can't tell you guys any more details, 'cos i've a vague feeling that i'll be charged in military court if i revealed more...0_o

WELL, but life for the moment's pretty easy, 'cos all the stores have been prep-ed up and sent over to the Land of the Mates...so there's marginally LESS things to do around here. There's live firing range test coming up soon though..which i have to say really SUCKS 'cos we've gotta book in at 10pm, which's really dumb to me 'cos we'd get to spend 10hrs the next day sleeping while we're waiting for the sun to fall...-.- (there's a day-time shoot and a nighttime one as well)

But anyway, enough crapping...i did say in the entry title that i got some new entertainment right? Haha, got a few cool items over the past 2 weeks..

1. Evanescence's new album: The Open Door

Now i'm not sure if you know this but i'm a HUGE fan of their music (see my friendster lah dude) and this album, well, i wouldn't say it's kick ass but it's very nice. It's...scarier-sounding than Fallen, which's their 1st album. Dunno why...i think maybe there's more usage of an orchestra? And a choir? Not to mention their piano tunes too...

The singing is as good as ever...Amy Lee has gotta be one of my all-time favourite vocalists man. Her voice's comfort range is like...one full octave above my own. And somehow, i just seem to like female singers with high-pitched but gentle, yet strong, voices (*hint hint* it MIGHT be the same for...cough)... Sarah McLachlan's good too. Michele Branch's a little bit lower though, and Fiona Apple and Aimee Mann are exceptions to this, but what the heck.

I still prefer the tunes of Fallen, all in all, but it's still a must-have for err..semi-gothic-rock-lovers. A good change from the remixes and "original tracks" that were released on their previous records, "Not For Your Ears" and "Anywhere But Home".

2.Jay Chou's latest: 依然范特西

Yup yup and it was v cheap too! $15 with a free poster from Sembawang..although there were like 10 songs only. Tunes-wise a little disappointing though...the songs aren't very memorable this time, apart from the 1st track which sounds a lot like Ye Hui Mei's 1st track, yi fu zi ming (err..translated as "in the name of the father" or smthn..) although it's totally different, melody-wise. He's got some nice slow ones, but nothing as memorable as his classics. Just a few Feng (November's Chopin)-style stuff. One of his worst albums, to me, but that's only 'cos people've set the standards of creativity for him sky-high. Still a nice record.

3.John Mayer's Latest: Continuum

Haven't had much of a chance to listen to this, but i've run through the whole album twice, and the songs're really peaceful and nice! Not as pop-ish and upbeat as "No Such Thing" or "Your Body is a Wonderland" but he croons a lot more..think maybe "Daughters" with a touch of Buble. Great stuff to..er...eat dinner to (haha i'ev never heard of THAT kinda description before). 0.0

I've got some new anime too! A bit too many to finish, somehow, although all i've got in queue now is a VERY disappointing Peacemaker (think of an anime with poor music, a dry, uninvolving plot, and with a main character who's twice as stupid as Naruto at his WORST and who's not even funny), Moon Phase (a cute little vampire romance thingee that {as usual} looks like it was meant for kids but actually isn't), and Naruto FILLERS. Sigh. I do wanna watch Moon Phase though heez.

Over the past 2 weeks i finished Maburaho...which turned out to be pretty decent. Some people may find it boring though...like the fact that there could be more fighting, more embarrassing situations, more romance, and more story development. But what the hell, i still enjoyed it anyway hahaha. Hard to find anything else to watch in any case.

Watched Full Metal Panic too! Whaha i started playing the anime last saturday night at, like, 1am, and i kept on until 7 in the morning...shows how good it is, and how cunning the producers were (to keep the suspense up at the end of each episode so u'd HAVE to watch the next one..). I heard the latter part of the series was not following the manga though. Sad sia. And the story was once again too short..there was romance and school stuff and mech fighting but i think having more of it would've been great! 24 episodes's just too short..i think i'm a little spoiled by Naruto. As a compromise, there should've been around 50 episodes. And THAT goes for maburaho and most of the countless 24/25/26 episode-long series i've watched!

And finally, the anime adaptation of the manga series D.Gray-man (which i was introduced to by wu junjie during signal training) has just been released! At least the first 3 episodes..and there'll be 1 more every week! Cool stuff...D.Gray-man's a bit weird though. In that it's very religious...with exorcists and demons and all that...very obviously Christian except that the Christian beliefs have been twisted a little bit. No, a LOT. I don't like all that holy talk, plus i think the writer might be a bit of a wacko (maybe he supports GWB too. Errrps.) but well, it's still a promising storyline. And i like a main character who is cursed by demons. Like a knight with a limp or a good-guy-hero who's a wanted and feared assassin.

Anyway, i've written quite a bit, so i'll end off with one final announcement...i PASSED my BASIC DRIVING THEORY!! Da da da dum! :D Was the second one in the room to finish the test too, despite having to change computers because of a computer hang. That felt good; a nice demonstration of the powers of JC-mentality-last-minute-mugging.

I'm a little slow though...i suppose i can be excused because i turned 18 on December 31st last year, like 5 days before i entered NS, but still...there're people in my batch with driving LICENCES already. And besides chong-foo-jack and fengquan, i saw my JUNIOR doing the basic theory test too! Moujian from RJC..he was from my adopted mini-group/flick in MY orientation group/film. Haha JAMIE are u reading this?? Moujian lol! Wah, missed the guy, man...but anyway he's damn zai lah...one month after birthday doing basic theory liao..he must've applied right away.

I think there're lots of guys like him though. Probably some JC guys who've already gotten their licences. Sigh. :\

I hate saying this, but it's the weekly-weekend-post again..
Well it WAS supposed to be super eventful, but nicholas lim's house stayover got canned because kenneth and maryann couldn't make it..which would've left me, chinhow and jaclyn to party while only chin & i could stay over (so no overnight mahjong huh..). Haiyoh why this jac until now still cannot stay over at other people's place...I thought her mum should know that we're pretty trustworthy people? She's eighteen already! She can take...well she still CAN'T take care of herself lol but well why her mum isn't at least covering her own eyes is BEYOND me. Haha ok i'm talking crap.

Then i was supposed to meet amos (knew him from GP Society hoho) to discuss some business proposition on saturday but that was canned too 'cos the time kept getting shifted around and in the end i just cancelled the whole thing. All i wanted was for something fun to do on my weekends..don't really need the cash..but this seemed pretty..well secretive/risky/stressful/troublesome/suspiscious would describe it somewhat. Hope it wasn't too tough on him..this business thing seems to take up a lot of his time, but well, i don't think it was wrong of me to show a mild interest that somehow got him VERY interested. I WAS mildly interested, after all.

But at least there were some things that happened! Like karaoke on friday night with my sis's friends, elan & natalie (and my sis oso lah)..Only an hour of singing though, and after that i spent a whole bloody hour stoning at the hawker centre and not eating and listening to nat & my sis gossiping non-stop while trying to get into the convo and seem interested BUT it was fun nevertheless. Lol.

And on saturday we went to watch Miami Vice, a not-too-bad movie...where the plot was quite ok and Gong Li was hot during some scenes and c-OLD during the others. Haha well age will catch up to us all i guess...Her english accent kinda...sucked though. I used to think she was a fluent speaker but i suppose i hadn't really heard it with my own ears before. Bummer.

So my weekend wasn't as eventful as i predicted. What did i do, meanwhile? Dota and anime. Again. This time the anime isn't even new..was just watching okd Naruto episodes 'cos i grew kinda sick of Peacemaker Kurogane after just 2 episodes. OH but i spent a lot of time playing The Ninja RPG..which's a naruto related browser-based MMORPG.

Haha "mmorpg" kinda flatters it a bit, 'cos it's all just words and stuff. You get to be a ninja, choose a village, then study genjutus, ninjutsus, taijutsus, even stuff like CHIDORI (yeah!) roll for an advanced bloodline, do errands, fight monsters, other ninjas, commit crimes, get a sensei, advance up to genin, then chuunin, then jounin, then special jounin, challenge the current kage to be leader of the village, blahblahblah..

Sounds pretty fun huh? BUT like i said, it's all words, so its pretty boring in the end. BUT hey, lots of people in my army company's playing it, which makes it all very fun! What's more, i can play it in camp! Woohoo, not like the blardy frenster and blogger websites which are BLOCKED on the army internet.

And i bought Maburaho yesterday too! After all the naruto, bleach and gundam, i just wanted to watch a silly love-hina style romance, and Maburaho kinda gave me what i expected...a dumb, lame, chauvanistic and yet pretty enjoyable romance involving a total "loser" and a few supposedly hot & powerful babes. And lots of animated girls clad in underwear too, but that's pretty unimportant to me. Kinda like DearS. And love hina too, of course. Best thing is, i couldn't find it in stores anywhere else, which's why i delayed my purchase of Moonphase to another time.

Haha but the guy at the HMV counter had to insist on checking my IC, so i was like "oh wow 0.0..."..eh no i was like "oh my frickin god >.<, did i just buy some porno-shit??", but when i checked the box again, it said NC16..............like, what the HELL -.-. Thought what sia...that guy actually suspected that i might be under 16???? Lol what the..i didn't know that i look like i'm still in secondary school...or hey, maybe it's "standard operating procedure" or what, so if a greying old (horny) man decided to buy it they'd STILL check. In case, you know, he's just suffering from accelerated ageing..which i suppose MIGHT be possible...like maybe 1 in a billion.

Haha well anyway that's all for the week! I'll be back only on saturday morning because of guard duty, and i'll likely sleep until past afternoon as well, so if there's anything anyone wants me to attend, do please take note. Byez!

Mahjong weekend
Haha but really..had two days of mahjong this weekend where i lost around $10 dollars in total..could've been much different however. Played pretty well i'd say but just a bit of bad luck..or rather a bit of good luck on the opponents' part. At least i wasn't the BIG loser in any of my games.

Hmm..nothing much else to post. At least there's nothing really BIG that's going on..just a lot of army stuff that i'm not about to mention, a class outing on saturday and discussions on the house design and what stuff we should put in there. In the past i'd write in detail almost everything that happened in my life...i'd STILL do it given the chance, but my life's a little bit uneventful at the moment.

I've watched TONS of anime though. And reading manga also. I think i've memorised QUITE a few words for someone who's never taken classes...finished gundam seed destiny and finishing it's predecessor, Gundam SEED. It's not too bad lah, although SEED Destiny is known for being much worse than the previous series. I've also watched this slightly soft-core-chauvanistic-feel-good anime, DearS..it was kinda packaged together with the Gundam stuff lol. Guys should watch this one. Girls...maybe not. Actually, the same kinda goes for Gundam too.

There're so many that i wanna watch too! Trigun, Hunter X Hunter, Trinity Blood, Mai Hime, Burst Angel, Evangelion, Maburaho, Full Metal Alchemist/Panic, Chrno Crusade, etc etc etc. I don't want to spend my cash though. Haiz.

Anyway i'd like to wish a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Roulette people: Jamie, Moujian, Dawn, Joy, Kaisheng, Steph, Liangsheng, Jeanette, Andy, errr...and Chuntek and Peishan and...haiyoh my memory isn't as good as i thought. They're all having or had their birthdays around this time! And to all the Rodeo people celebrating in the months of September/October too! I may be pretty distant from everyone now, but somehow i can always tell a Rodeo person from just another VJ junior...hope ya'll still remember me a bit! :)

And to nicholas foo xiang jie also...haiyoh no birthday party for me to attend huh.

Well gotta go...it's book-in time. Gotta leave the house in ten minutes so ciaoz!
