What a day to eat some shit.
Ok so i didn't write any entries yesterday. That's 'cos nothing happened yesterday! Haiz was stuck at home just slacking around. Didn't do anything useful. Zero productivity. And i still have SATs to prepare for on saturday. And prom night, which is, well...TOMORROW. Sigh.

Oh but today was much more eventful though. That's because i went to a friend's house with, er, friends! Haha quite cool. After buying food at Plaza Sing's Carrefour, (Goat: "1st we buy the shit") we took an MRT to Goat's house to totally "cook the shit" in his own words. Then we had to "eat the shit"...Man, was there a LOT of shit! We had to fix the bloody barbeque pit before that though. It was totally messy and the instructions and the screws themselves were completely..er..screwed up...like how the hell are we supposed to fit the wheel onto axle and attach with screw5 and bolt7?? Oh but we figured it out eventually, thanks to the guys who decided to adopt a totally chauvanistic attitude and asked the girls to buzz off and "marinate the FOOD why don't you", while we put our thumbs in our pockets and wore imaginary overalls and fixed the pit. Apparently men ARE supposed to be better at it.. (Wow so that's one thing, huh.) But the axle to put the wheel was missing, so we had to support the pit using bricks! Goddamn cheaters! Just goes to show that sometimes you just have to check whether all components are there when you buy something. Or, better still, buy it from some place near so that you can take it back for a refund. If only that pit wasn't so darn big...guess we really got winded this time..-.-

All in all it was really fun, however...playing cards, playing around with goat's over-kill computer, or just eating and chatting. There really was a lot of satay and dunno-what-shit fillet and nice brown venision shit soaked in red wine. Delicious. Literally finger-licking good. 0_o Talking to goat's mum was very interesting, as usual, and the back-and-forth suanning between chinhow and jaclyn was at its usual best...oh sorry i meant to say worst. LOL. And there was a lot of alcohol being passed around too (courtesy of goat's "old man", of course) ..0.0 Oh but i didn't drink much! (haha that was a bit sudden...) After that, kenneth's brother, kevin, was nice to offer us a ride to the MRT station, which we were only too happy to accept. The rain today was really very weird...

Ah well guess i've gotta end off here. It's exactly 5am now and i'm VERY tired after a long day. My eyes are on the verge of closing now. Actually wanted to write about relationships and stuff, (thanks to some inspiration from D and the Legend of Hum Solo and Princess Leia) but seeing as i can barely string coherent sentences together at the moment, perhaps it's better if i left it for later. Oh gosh me so sleepy can just i off this computer and wake up sleep 1st write later today before i pass out on floor oh my gosh maybe it happening now...

hmm hmm hmm...
Alright chatterbox settled...turns out i set it to like 16posts so i cut it to ten. It still looks freakin long sia! Ohwell, let's leave it at that for now.

Oh anyway celine, i think 250gb is very normal if you build your own computer; in fact hard-disks are really cheap now. PC companies would have you thinking that 160gb is A LOT already, but currently standard SATA internal hard-disks can go as low as 75cents per gigabyte. But what makes me so proud of it is the SATA II format (oh but SATA II has problems with RAID a.k.a. linking two internal harddisks and using them together. Good thing i'm not planning to do that..) and ESPECIALLY the 16mb cache...almost all other hard-disks now come with 8mb caches (i think my old one is 2mb..) so overall my data-transfer is super-duper fast...And i LOVE my graphic card hahaha 256mb 7800GT that has been officially overclocked for super performance (hence the "extreme" label). Oh but i'm not really a computer geek...I think nicholas & tze yang will beat me at it any day. I just read up a lot.

Hmm anyway to clarify some more(or rather a LOT) stuff with celine and whoever's interested, (since i realise tagboards aren't for too much wordy stuff...for me at least since i can write from here too. And add in tonnes of detail) the reason why AMDs are so much better than intel processors is basically because AMD processors do more work/commands etc per clock cycle (aka the hertz) than intel's. Intel used to advocate a "the more hertz the better" concept 'cos it sold really well with the consumers and was very easy to understand. In order to boost the hertz rating of their processors they lengthened the processor pipelines blah blah blah. But now they realise that they can't boost it any further (it's hit a wall at around 5ghz) and the longer pipelines that they use make the processor very inefficient. (due to time taken to flush out pipelines during incorrectly predicted commands, which happens pretty often)

You would realise that intel's marketing strategy nowadays doesn't emphasise clock speeds so much anymore. (and their naming system for the procs have changed, ie from 2.4ghz proc to just 2.4c or 2.4b) Moral of the story: It isn't the processor speed that really matters. A lot of other things count too.(eg front-side-bus a.k.a. FSB, cache, work/cycle) So if you're offered an AMD64 1.8ghz and an intel celeron 2.4ghz, for crying out loud DON'T pick the celeron. Celerons in particular have a well-deserved reputation for being very horrible. Even the older AMD XPs can beat it.

At the end of the day, a lot of intel's processors are rubbish. Many benchmark tests (of different kinds) show intel processors to be VERY inefficient compared to AMDs. Intel Prescott processors (which generated a lot of buzz before they came out) might be very powerful, but the clock speeds are so high that it uses a lot of electricity and releases a lot of heat. If you don't get a good cooler and your fans aren't spinning so hard that your computer sounds like a bee-hive it might just melt and short circuit your whole PC. And it can still barely match up to some AMD64 processors...much less the newer AMD FX series.

I think the only intel processors that can stand up to AMD at the moment are intel's own dual core processors (although i think it still can't beat AMD's own dual core offerings) and intel's Pentium M, (the ones that go into your laptops nowadays) which consumes still much less electricity and spews less heat than even AMD processors. Problem with the Ms are that its clock speeds (ironically) and overall raw power still can't match AMD64 processors, and it is much much more expensive. I'd prefer AMDs any day...well except for those Sempron ones lah.

However, why is it companies like Dell, HP and Acer still put intels into their PCs? One reason is that intel is still a much bigger company than AMD. Their R&D department doesn't seem to have churned out much, but they've got the factories, etc to keep up with the demand. AMD is quite the darling of home PC builders, but intel's still the bigger brand name when you talk about the average-joes. (a.k.a. where all the money comes from...-.-) Like, intel's got their "intel inside" logo and all, but what does AMD have? AMD has done so little marketting that when HP offered an AMD based system it had to say that the PC came with "The award winning AMD64". I think for most people there's only intel. Haha quite a lame reason but it really is true. I don't think people will actually realise this though. Because if they did, they wouldn't buy PCs from Dell, etc anymore as well. Dell sells really affordable ultra low-end PCs, (i know this because i can barely match them when i try budget-ing for a low-end PC...probably because of re-used parts and the fact that they can skimp on LCD screens/cases that they make themselves) but around 2000bucks you can definitely get something MUCH better. If only people had the time to learn about pc components..

Haha, well i hope that was very informative for you readers. I've tried to be as accurate as possible, but i do hope it was relatively easy to understand as well.

Anyway i better go to sleep soon! 4.30am already. Still need to bathe etc, tomorrow going out with classmates at like 12.30..so i'll need to wake up at around 11am at least. If you're wondering why i'm not writing much about what happened today, well it's because nothing really happened! Just sat at the computer whole day. I'm getting better at DOTA but i'm also getting sick of it. Sigh...what i really want now is to go out with friends and find some people to go bowling/basketball with me (04s15 people who read this blog, if you're thinking of a name you can SO keep your mouths shut right about...now. Gosh.) Oh but it's been an interesting experience, being home all by yourself for so long...like you can walk around your home in your boxers without a care for anything and you can use the toilet/bathe without closing the door LOL. Ok really is getting late and i'm getting a bit incoherent. Byez people.

err..ok. solved it...somewhat.
Ermm...alrite i managed to get back my archives and history page...Quite simple actually i just loaded one of blogspot's standard templates and pasted the appropriate stuff at the appropriate places. But what's with that ugly font and BIG BIG letters...0.0 I wonder how i can change it back to the nice and small one that i normally use. But enough of figuring out how to design this blog! I've really gotta go to sleep now.

wow..i DO have readers after all!
Haha nick (i assume its zp and not nich) and celine, you guys must be gifts from heaven!! Was so worried that i was descending into that sort of boring monologue that happens for some of those "no-one-ever-visits-because-it's-so-darn-boring-and-that-guy-can-only-talk-about-his-own-life-like-who-cares-etc-etc" blogs. Well whoever reads this blog, can you please follow the excellent example set by these two brilliant people and say somethin on my tagboard?! I'd really appreciate it! Then at least i'll know if anyone listens to my crazy rants..Oh but celine i dunno how to like link ur URL or whatever that is...i've always heard people saying that but i hv NO idea what they were talking about...ah well i'm sure i'll learn...by the end of NEXT yr or somethin..haiz.

Oh which reminds me, i have a few problems with my blog at the moment which i'll try to solve a.s.a.p. 1: The darn history or whatever can't seem to update itself and the list of months where people store their old entries are missing. 2: For some reason, when i type it doesn't appear! You know...that vertical line. I use it for my = emote which is one of my favourite!! (besides -.- and 0.0 ...) Think i'll have to consult dory on this...seems easier to consult her than Google sometimes...

Argh anyway it was such an uneventful day today! Besides going dinner with parents, all i did was fiddle around with the computer and play dota..haha oh but my record today was 4wins 2losses. I've definitely improved..yay! Like i'm still not the guy who's owning and getting top score, which i used to be, but i think i've adapted to the new tactical environment of the game.. (where the entire team communicates a lot and sets up gang bangs etc) I think the reason i got so badly thrashed last time was because i was like an English soccer team first setting foot in more tactical European competition. So it's like u-gotta-say-no-to-gung-ho. Liverpool rather than er...Newcastle. I'm like the capable sidekick now. Which might actually be pretty cool. It's like, as a daydreaming kid years ago, i'd prefer to be the guy who was not the strongest but was still respected by his enemies...lol something like Saitou rather than Kenshin.

Ok, i sound positively insane. I think it's time for me to go to sleep. Hmm parents won't be home tomorrow and on monday, but i suppose it's too late for me to arrange for some mahjong at my place. Damn. I guess the next few days're gonna be spent like this one. How lonely. And to think this was what i had always wanted before the A levels were over. Man..

Phew
Okay! It's done, finally..i've got my new computer! Haha it's been like 4yrs since my previous desktop so i'm really happy! No more lagging on so many things..now i just have to help move all the family's stuff from the old computer to this one. Was like so anxious yesterday to get it all fixed up and windows xp loaded etc that i didnt eat dinner until like 12 midnight...but it's all worth it in the end! Lol cant wait to try out this baby and witness its raw POWER...oh and here are its specs...

Computer name: Ilyena
Casing: (El-Cheap-o) Cooler Master Centurion 5
Motherboard: Asus A8N SLI
CPU: AMD64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
Graphics: 256mb Leadtek WinFast Exteme 7800GT
RAM: 2X512MB Kingston RAM DDR400 CL2.5
Hard-disk: Western Digital 250gb 7200rev/s SATA II 16mb cache
Disk Drives: LG DVD ROM, LG DVD/RW/RAM Super-Multi Drive (forgot what read/write speeds but it's the usual top-of-the-line stuff)
PSU: Antec TruePower 480W
Windows XP Proffesional w/ Service Pack 2
Others: (El-Cheap-o) Logitech Keboard/Optical Mouse Combo (Maybe i'll get some cool neon lights next time...)

It's not exactly highest-end stuff (except if you compare to those by ready-made-PC companies) but it can seriously hold its own weight, was really affordable (a.k.a. good bang for buck) and is high-end enough to play the latest games or do video-editing at super-high settings without any worries. I'm really satisfied with it! Now all i gotta do is get a new LCD monitor (not sure what model to get yet) and find a way to create more airspace at the back for the rear-case fans, because there's currently less than 10cm there and with all those darn wires..

Alright, gotta go, i'm going to install more stuff and play around with this baby...mwahaha!! :D

How do n00bs learn dota?
Haha was lazing around just now when my cousin told me he finally managed to get lancraft so "can i play with him tonight" haha i suppose i can entertain him. But what gave me the inspiration was when he asked me how to train for dota. The best way is the play online of course. Most people would recommend hosting a game for "noobs only". My cousin currently learns his trade by playing against the computer..= and i was like er...yeah but the learning curve for that is quite...slow...

So i've decided to create a short guide for n00bs to learn how to play dota allstars in the "big-boys league"...without getting into too much trouble! Haha hope you enjoy this! (Note: This guide is solely for JOKING purposes...even though it WOULD help if you're a newbie 'cos it IS pretty relevant)

The n00b's Guide to Playing DotA!!

1. Pick a ranged hero. This is for "hum-ji-ing" purposes

2. Try to time your attacks so that you get the last hit on a creep. If you suck at it, at least try pretending to do it.

3. Don't give yourself names lyk "n00b" or "newbie", because if you really turn out to be one, people will hate you.

4. Similarly, don't believe people who call themselves "n00b". Half the time these are just uber-pros trying to be sadistic.

5.Try not to get killed more than 10 times before reaching level 6.

6.There are people lurking around online servers (zion-net for example) with nicknames like "ihatenoobsleavers". Seriously. Avoid playing with these people unless you like getting profanities hurled at you throughout the whole match.

7. If you really suck, try avoiding 1v1 confrontations with enemy heroes.

8. Then, when it's 5v5 time in a single lane, stay at the back and fire in random spells. This has the effect of making you seem more useful to the team than you actually are.

9. If you don't know what skills to build or items to buy, then..well...this one's hard..Try asking your friends for help or read the forums. Don't ask too many questions though because this can irritate people.

10. Listen to your team-mates and do what they tell you. So if you guys are getting owned, you can say it wasn't your fault.

11. If you're pushing up/down a lane all by yourself and you're across the river AND the opponents' heroes are all missing, this is a sign that something VERY bad's about to happen.

12. If you get owned/insulted really bad, can't stand the shame and want to quit the game, don't EVER use the "Quit Mission" functions or whatever in the menu. Instead, turn off your computer's power supply or pull out your internet connection. Being labelled a "lagger" is still significantly better than being labelled a "leaver".

13. If you DO have to leave a game for excuses like "this game imbalanced lah", you MUST change your nickname. If not, you'll eventually reach a stage where you enter any game and you get this:
"hey i know this guy!"
"isnt he the noob??"
"he's a leaver!"
"bloody b*stard.."
"KICK!!"
and you're out. Change your nickname constantly to avoid ever developing a REPUTATION.

14. Finally, if you get pawned in a very silly way, (eg. you were killed at full health by non-Roshan neutral creeps, or your hero got slaughtered by a solo-goblin techie who didn't use mines or spells and without you even landing a punch, OR it is simply the 30th time your hero got KO'ed) AND your team-mates ask you what the hell you were doing (or you sense that they're pissed with you) don't, i repeat, DON'T say something like "sorry lah. i n00b mah." The standard reply to that is "ccb. then y the **** are u playin in this game?!" This will get you black-listed (although changing your nickname will alleviate the problem) INSTEAD, do the sensible thing and give a "sensible" excuse for that bit of idiocy you showed, like "Oh crap i was looking at another part of the map!" or "Shucks i was JUST about to press the button for my ultimate.." or "DAMN i was talking on the phone!" or "Shit i targetted the wrong hero by accident" or "Waah..the host is so laggy..." or the best one of them all, "Wah lau i was typing something lah." Even the pros use this excuse.

Haha and that's the end of it! Lol ok gotta go change..i'm getting the parts for my new comp now! Anyway, if you're a n00b and you really need help playing, you can always ask for my assistance! If you see me online (my alias is grecko), you can just tell me "Hey greg, i'm a n00b, and i read your blog" and i'll be glad to help you out! Won't be able to save your ass all the time though...half the time i'll be trying to save my own...

A very very long post...
Woohoo! A levels are over! I guess i can say a big GOODBYE to examinations...until next saturday's SATs of course..-.- Well, after THAT is over, i can say goodbye to being forced to do things i don't wanna do! Erm...until NS that is. Or is that the New York trip...lol kidding! Haha you know what my sister called me? A "poor-rich kid"..haha which IS kinda true i guess. I mean, i'm going on an all expenses paid trip (er..by parents that is) to New York and Niagara Falls and i'm COMPLAINING? Go get a life, Greg! Oh wait a sec, my mum's calling me downstairs. Guess i'll have to do that even if i don't want to...=

Ahwell, i guess i've gotta talk about what happened on Thursday in order to make this more of a blog than just a dumb-ass column. Hmm..but it wasn't much i think. First we went to watch Harry Potter at Marina Square after bio exam. I must say, this Harry Potter's definitely darker than the previous 3, but who says it was scary? I think scary movies need shocks and tonnes of suspense, which this one didn't..The movie was very funny and the visuals were really spectacular, but it kept zipping from one scene to the next. Probably because the book was really long and they had to fit it into the required timeframe. But because of that, there wasn't any proper linking done, which really confused non-Potter readers like me. I suppose the lack of characterisation done could be due to the shortness of the movie too. I guess they didn't have much choice.(ironic isn't it...'cos the movie's way over 2hrs!!)

Plus Potter and Ronald Weasley look too old to be 14!! And to think that the reporter kept saying Harry was 12...hahahahaha :D And Hermione (a.k.a. Emma Watson) isn't TT pretty...like, looks nice but nothin special. But i suppose she's gotta have a few more years. Haha i remember saying before the movie that she wasn't really my type..(to which my friends replied "Haha! As if YOUR opinion mattered Greg!!") Well, at least Ms Watson's MUCH better looking than Potter's gal! Gosh, i think i can pick out 50 girls in VJ who're hotter than her! And Ms Katie Leung probably had all that makeup on! Ok, i'm being quite mean. Actually she looks quite sweet lah. Lol and i DO like her accent.

Anyway, moving on from Potter (lol i do have a tendency to rant and go out of point...) the whole bunch of us...which numbered like eleven, went to Carl's Jr where we ate super big burgers. My first time there, so it was all quite weird. I finished last once again, thanks to a certain desire to remove my onions and tomatoes and eating them separately before muching on the burger, coupled with this incessant need to talk at the meal table.. (oh but at least i finished everything) After that, i went with Celine to find the right bus-stop to head home, 'cos i decided i didn't wanna play badminton after all.

Went with my mum to go to some Sitex thing after that, around 5pm. It's some computer-gadget fair. Quite cool because everything's at lower prices than usual...that i can confirm, but individual PC components weren't sold. I had the feeling that the fair was catered to the general public - the average Joes who aren't so knowledgeable about computers. Like duh right. That's where the money is. So there were a lot of ready made PCs, notebooks, LCD monitors, keyboards, mice, mp3 players, digital cameras and external hard-disks on sale, but nothing INSIDE the PC case, which was what i was interested in. (like the AMD booth didn't even sell processors) I felt that some of the salespeople didn't know their stuff (What kind of hard-disk?Err...normal hard-disk lah. This computer has 512mb of RAM. What kind of RAM? Err...Processor what model? What core? Err...) and some booths had DJs who would announce what's on sale to everyone. Some of these DJs didn't KNOW what they were talking about, so they read everything directly from the brochure, which was damn funny! "Wow, and this computer has 256mb of RAM..." Lol she DOES realise that that's a BAD THING doesn't she?? =D (note: i'm not sure what she said EXACTLY, but it WAS something like that.) Ok...i realise this is really geek talk. So i'm going to stop. Right now.

Just before i left i saw Sonia, one of Dory's friends, at some UOB booth..i think. At least it totally looked like her and dory confirmed she was working at some UOB thing. Gosh, why so hardworking? At her age i might not even be out of my pyjamas at that time.

Oh but i'm not done! This entry has some ways to go i fear. Anyway i left eventually 'cos i realised that if i stuck around any longer and continued asking salespeople er...sensitive questions within earshot of dozens of people..well, i'd really be a party pooper. So i left, ate dinner and went home.

It was dota for the rest of the day. Sigh, lost 4 times out of 4 today. Personal record wasn't much better. My post-er..chem paper 1 record reads like 1 win 9 losses. I've fallen so far behind the rest. I need to play more often and read up about all these new heroes and items. Haha but people'll probably think, like, why can't you just stop playing and move on to something else? To that, well, i'm not really sure...perhaps it's because of some darn ancient masculine mindset that i can't give up without a fight? Haha yeah i know that's full of shit. I guess it's because most of my classmates and friends play it..especially the ones i'm closer to in school. It's what holds many of us together..BEN would call it the new basketball. So somehow, I feel that i have to keep playing it or i might lose a link with the rest...or something along those lines. And while i'm still playing it, i'll have to improve. And it may sound childish, but i want to get back to my winning ways again.

Dota's quite addictive, but i don't think that it's THAT big a problem for me. Already i'm getting slightly sick of it. Maybe it's the losses, but i don't think so. I'm feeling empty for some reason. I'm not exactly enjoying post-A lvls as yet (the 1 day of it to be fair), and i have the feeling somehing's missing in my life. I don't know what. Ah well, maybe it's just because the last paper for the exams was so anticlimatic. Or that i know there will be much tougher challenges ahead. We'll see...

The blog template's done! Well, almost...
Haha it's done for now! Managed to learn on the spot the basics like how to resize this and that etc. Wanted to put a picture of myself as a background for the middle column though. Still don't know how to do that. It's a very simple looking blog i think, without a lot of fancy stuff and all. And it's quite neat! Not much clutter. I'll add in more cool stuff once i learn how.

Anyway, lots of thanks must go to Dorinda!! For without her, i won't even know how to get started! She taught me how to upload pics, tagboard, and she did my initial template so that all that was left was for me to do some minor adjustments...Haha thanks so much dory! Sorry i wasted your time and smses and all; i really appreciate it! Really owe you one. AGAIN. Hiak.

The Final Battle...The End...begins tomorrow...
Haha...i wonder whether all new blog users are so enthu about writing entries...like every day write two, which i seem to be doing. Alright, it's almost time for bed...tomorrow's my last EVER A level paper! Unless i have to retake..choi! Touch wood touch wood! Erm, don't think anyone would EVER read this blog until it's all over..mainly 'cos i haven't done any "advertising" for it yet (it still looks like shit you see). But anyway, good luck year2s! May we get full marks for MCQ tomorrow and totally kick Bio's ass! Then later we can all PAARTAEYY...well except for the s-paper folks of course.

flooble said that I am
Not Gay
(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Take the flooble Gay Quiz

Ok, i don't know why i took this, but WOW. It turns out i'm NOT GAY. Woah..like i SO didn't know. Amazing. (Hey what's wrong with wanting to find out huh??)

Let's talk about...religion...
Sigh, dunno why but i'm in some kind of limbo at the moment. Don't feel like studying, don't feel like exercising, not really in contact with the outside world, and shopping and computer games don't seem all THAT fun somehow. Like, even after the A levels, the freedom'll be no big deal. Let's hope that changes...

Hmm, was lazing around last night when i suddenly decided to pick up Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" and read it. Read it before so just flipped through it this time. It got me thinkin about Christianity and religion again..

Personally, i believe a lot of the Da Vinci Code is true. Not the crap about the Priory or the keystone, which aren't really proven, but about the beginnings of Christianity. Yup, i suppose some of you out there can go call me a blasphemer right now...

I noticed, however, that what Dan Brown had mainly done was disprove the evidence the Church had put forward to claim it was correct about God and Jesus. He didn't try to prove Christianity was really wrong; it was their reasons for claiming otherwise that he attacked. That got me thinking. The Church might have scrambled to gather their supporters and deny Dan Brown, but so what if he's correct? So what if something like the Dead Sea Scrolls pop up again and counters the claims that Jesus Christ was in any way divine? Perhaps the Church won't be able to say with the same conviction that they are the sole vessel with which people can reach heaven, but that doesn't make them any more wrong than the rest of us.

Personally, i believe that no one really knows much about the spiritual world, and about God. Not me, not you, not the Pope, no one. But it doesn't mean people don't have the right to believe what they want. In that spirit, i don't think Christians should be worried that they might be wrong, because even if they "run away" from Christ, there'd be nowhere to run to. Heck, they may be more right than the rest of us.Religion should be a personal thing and not governed by lies and people claiming that they know the real truth. A Christian who truly understands religion would know that there is a chance he and his pastors are dead wrong, but that doesn't mean he can't continue believing in Christianity and what his pastors and parents taught him. A person who changes religion constantly based on who seems more correct isn't someone who is truly religious; that guy just wants to get to heaven.

It's truly a pity how religion has degraded from simply personal beliefs to organisations that are a huge political force. (eg. Bush's insistence on barring gay marriages) Picking certain beliefs and wisdoms from different religions and from your own personal experiences and logic, and then forming your own "religion" from there, is a concept that people don't even consider nowadays. Spiritual beliefs have now been seriously catergorised. Those who care about the spiritual world and weren't born into a religion seem to want to rush into organisations like the Church, who insist you must believe and follow everything they tell you. It's as if you have to join a religion to HAVE a religion. Religion's not just a belief anymore; it's an identity. People don't say: "I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God." They say: "I'm an evangelist Christian and i go to So-and-so Church."

Take Buddhism for example. Siddharta Gautama believed that people should not worship wooden idols, or any type of figurines for that matter. In fact, he didn't really intend for Buddhism to become a religion; it was just a way of life that he wished to impart onto others. But thanks to a fusion of Buddhism with Chinese and dunno-what-other beliefs, almost all Buddhists in S'pore seem to worship idols. But i think, despite all this, people shouldn't abandon their Taoist-Buddhist (let's call it that for want of any other word) beliefs and go become "true Buddhists". Because, then, they'd become too concerned about the name, that they aren't true Buddhists. What's more important are the beliefs that they've held dear for so long. A religous person who truly believes will not throw his beliefs aside just because of one man's opinion.

Hmm well, i guess i've really written a lot...not sure if people can bother to read for so long. I realise i've sidetracked a lot every now and then, which makes all of this pretty confusing, so if you understand all of it, or at least tried to, then that's good. I thank you for your efforts regardless. Also, please don't get angry if i've offended you somehow. I'm just a seventeen year old boy, turning on eighteen. I don't know much about the world. Tell me what you think, and enlighten me if you will. I'll be glad to hear your views...just as long as they arent rude ones.

Argh!
Alright i give up! Was playing around with FF7 motiffs and Paint jobs and other stuff from the internet, but i just couldn't fashion a nice enough background to fit my blog so i'm just gonna leave it like this for now. I'm still confused over all the main, main2, sidebar crap and like how much to shift this and that portion of the blog around to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I'm trying to, like, fit everything into 1 screen with scroll bars for my entries and the sidebar only (i.e. the background doesn't shift when you scroll), something MANY people have done before me without any effort, and i have ZERO idea on how to go about doing that. I'm a total klutz. How pathetic. Well, i'm just gonna leave it for now.Sigh...4 hours spent on the blog...time better spent on studying bio. Or even better, on baldur's gate or basketball or bowling or babes or...well you get the idea. Ahwell...gotta go then...i don't know...polka dots are very rare in real life, but somehow the polka dots on my blog make it very...common...

Day 2, and well..nothin's changed..
Well i'm back! And the blog's still in the same state. Haiz it's all still Greek to me - all that template crap and goddamn CODES. Gosh. Dorinda's helped me a bit tho..thanks dory! :) I'll just try to understand all of it as fast as i can so that this blog can have a semblance of uniqueness as soon as possible. I don't think i even have smilies on my blog yet. Plus all those flashy things that seem to be like "normal-stuff" on other people's blogs. I'm gonna upload a tagboard very soon though. :) So that people can type stuff & i can find out whether anyone even reads this blog..-.-

But i'd better not spend too much time on this! Lots of time during the darn New York/Niagara Falls trip to write more entries. (I'm leaving S'pore on the 12th of dec and returning on the 26th by the way) For now i have to...i'm SUPPOSED to put all (well at least a bit) of my mind into tackling the adversary that is BIOLOGY! Hoohah! Feel the burning pain that is my righteous boot in your backside, Bio!! >.<

Oh but i'm not feeling too well at the moment...all thanks to a certain...shaving incident. In fact i'm feeling really horrible. And i'm still hurting a bit from the DOTA matches yesterday, when it dawned on me that "feeder" or "n00b" was slowly becoming my new niche in the dota ecosystem. I'm not exactly at the bottom of the food-chain or anything, but i think i've fallen pretty far from where i used to be. Talk about the effects of no regular games for months.

You know, not trying to boast or anything, but there was a time when i was like a KINGPIN of dota. Like in dota matches i'd be the leopard, stalking, hunting and preying on the helpless deer, rabbits and apes that stood in my path. Except it seems that, in these past 6 months, some of the apes have evolved into human beings with guns... : Some even have, like, AK-47s. Goodness gracious. So now I'm the one being p4wn3d - the liability of the team. Ohwell, unless i wanna get out of the rat-race and stop playing dota for good, i guess i'll have to get some match practice, familiarise myself with the new versions of dota, and well...basically become a leopard...with a gun.

Woah...like what are all these buttons..
Haha oh man i don't even know if this god-forsaken post is even gonna get posted!! That's right...DA DA DUM!! Greg's just got a blog! Haha ok this's amazing...all these functions...i don't even know how it all works! I get the feeling that if i press this..or that..something might go really, really wrong. And YES the template or wadever is totally SHIT i know but for now i don't even know how to put up photos! Lol i know blogs as much as i know Microsoft Office or internet scripting...which is VERY little.

Argh anyway i'll have someone teach me how to do..erm..stuff..with this blog that i've seen so many people do so effortlessly, so eventually i hope this blog will start to look prettier! With flashes of pink and..er well. Pink. Ok i'm totally crazy..I'd better stop typing and focus on the bloody bio A lvl exam coming up this thurs! And maybe AFTER that i can start using this blog as a stronghold for all my politically incorrect opinions and to simply talk about the funny happenings of MY LIFE. Hoho, that's so totally egocentric. Which I suppose is good..isn't it? :)
