My goodness. I've got a driving test coming up in 2 days time but i can hardly even bother about it. My mind's currently occupied with another important, arguably more pressing issue: i'm starting a law firm internship next monday!
I don't want to reveal too much here, but what i'll say is that it's a 9am - 6pm job. I don't know what i'll be doing, exactly, but i'll be directly under an all-powerful Senior Counsel on my first day (and probably more to come) and i shall be following that Senior Counsel to High Court on my first day as well! 0.0
Talk about being thrown into the deep end of the pool. We're setting off for High Court 15 minutes after i arrive at the firm so it's going to be very rushed and i don't think there'll be time to discuss attachment length and any allowances before moving out. I haven't even started my university courses yet so i shall have to do a lot of reading up on my own (much more than i've done so far) on the weekend before work starts.
There's also all these urgent matters to take care of: i've got to find the black leather shoes, black suit, and black pants that i've stashed away at home and haven't taken out in ages. And i will have to go to G2000 or wherever to buy more suits, pants and white shirts for the long haul. High Court's a very formal place too so i might even need a pure black tie.
Plus i'll have to borrow one of my dad's laptops (yes he's got a few laptops lol) to take notes for the Senior Counsel during the trial. To be honest, i felt his laptop was a little big and would stand out too much...it's like a bit of a multimedia laptop in a very formal, working environment. But what the heck. Hopefully they won't care about it.
Anyway, i'm feeling a bundle of emotions right now; fear, nervousness, uncertainty and raw excitement thrown into a devilishly confusing mix. It's a little like waiting in line to get on a scary, yet famous rollercoaster ride at some theme park; i'd be honoured to have experienced the ride first-hand, but that doesn't diminish my fear of getting on it any.
At the moment, i'm somewhere in the middle of that queue. In four days time, i'll be at the front. I really hope that i'd be able to fall asleep come sunday night.
